The students start the year with a refresher on digital literacy. We review what safe and appropriate conduct look like on the internet.

We then dive into the differences between hardware and software, looking into how to build computers ourselves.

Following that, the students use our various resources to build upon their understanding and knowledge of block coding.

Once a basis has been established, I reinforce their math skills.

Students take these skills and apply them to problem-solving real-life problems. They use the 3d printers, drones, and other tools available to make their ideas come to life.

Tools such as Minecraft Education are used throughout the year as it allows teachers like me to engage with students on a platform they know and are comfortable with, while still maintaining a productive classroom environment.

Just as our world is ever changing, the curriculum grows. We discuss topics such as financial literacy, cryptocurrency, and cyber security at the end of the year.
